[Feb 10, 2019] Attempted Hacking?

2019. 2. 10. 23:37LA life 2018-2019

I just got a message from the app "Duo Security" on my mobile.  That app sends me a message every time I try to log on to "my.ucla.edu" by entering my ID and password.  If I do not approve through this app, log on eventually fails.  That means, if I receive this message, someone knows my ID and password.

Frankly, I have felt this process a little bit redundant because I have believed that no one would be interested in my "my.ucla.edu" because it has nothing to do with any economical stuffs.  However, I just received several messages from the app asking me whether to approve or deny, even though I did not attempt to log on.  As shown above, the app shows the location where the log on is being tried.  The series of messages said that the log on was being attempted at Hasegawa, Japan!

So I just have changed my password, not only at "my.ucla.edu" but also at other sites.  Thanks, Duo Security!

Yesterday, got the above two messages from Duo Security, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.  I did not realize that the message showed the UCLA ID for which log-in was attempted.  Anyway, I was a little bit relieved to know that not my ID but someone else's ID was used to the attempted log-in.  The problem is that the notice for haojuantao is being sent to me.  Is it because the owner of ID haojuantao mistakenly input my phone number in his account?  Maybe..
